Brief description: 15-minute duet
Laura Ann Samuelson and I co-choreographed and performed this duet, which premiered in Denver’s Counterpath Exhibition Space during the 2019 Unseen Festival.
Brief description: 40-min sextet
I made this 40-min sextet after the sudden and unexpected loss of my brother, Adam Geary. The final solo was choreographed for me by Rennie Harris. Lights were designed by Ryan Seelig, and sound was designed and performed by Max Bernstein.
Brief description: 8-min feminist performance art solo
I devised this device, which uses pelvic floor muscles to trigger a pressure sensor that wirelessly turns on and off various electronic devices. In this performance, I make snacks for the audience by turning on a blender and popcorn popper. I am drawing on Martha Rosler's feminist performance art piece, Semiotics of the Kitchen, to investigate the invisibility of care-taking labor.
The hardware for the device was built and programmed by my partner, Tim Lowrimore.
Brief description: 60-minute dance theatre quartet
This is a trailer for the 60-minute dance theatre piece collaboratively performed and choreographed by Lauren Beale, Brooke McNamara, Kate Speer, and me. We created this piece in response to the 2016 presidential election in the US.
Brief description: 40-min site-specific installation solo performance
I repeated the loop of this accumulation-dance roughly 10 times over the course of 40-minutes for an audience of people passing through the busy stairwell. The improvised sound was made by collaging found sound with a recorded phone conversation between me and my father. Over the course of the performance's seemingly-unending repetition, true fatigue sets in, which makes the movement more precarious.
Brief description: 10-min solo performed by Taylor King, original text written by Ondine Geary
This solo was performed by Taylor King. It began as an examination of the sometimes fine line between a truth and a lie. In the piece, helium balloons are released, only to pop and rain down. King speaks original text while dancing:
Brief description: 10-min group dance
Ten performers dance this piece, which explores the politics of water rights and looming shortages.
Brief description: 10-min solo
This piece was made in 2013, amid the mounting Syrian refuge crisis. I was overwhelmed by the stories I was reading in newspapers about the starvation, desperation and violence people were experiencing. And I was struck by the irony of the advertisements that shared the page with these stories. Reports of intense human suffering shared an inky border with ads for luxury cars and fine watches. I felt an impotent empathy that disturbed me.
